BOSTON, Mass. — Three students from Osceola High School recently represented Central Florida on the national stage at Junior Achievement’s prestigious Future Bound conference, where they showcased their innovative business concept, SmartSpoil, at Boston University.
The students, members of Osceola High School’s 3DE program and rising seniors, earned their invitation after SmartSpoil finished among the top 15 student teams in the nation and qualified for the JA Social Innovation Challenge.
SmartSpoil was developed as part of a year-long 3DE project and is designed to help users reduce food waste by tracking grocery expiration dates through scanned receipts and sending alerts when items are nearing expiration. The app also includes features such as shopping lists, recipe suggestions, calorie tracking, and digital coupons.
Future Bound is Junior Achievement’s premier national event, bringing together top student innovators, entrepreneurs, educators, and business leaders from across the country. During the three-day conference, students participated in workshops, networking opportunities, mentor sessions, workplace experiences, and national competitions focused on entrepreneurship and innovation.
The Osceola High team impressed attendees as they presented SmartSpoil and shared their vision for helping families save money while reducing food waste.
Their successful participation highlighted the talent, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit being developed through Osceola High School’s 3DE program and served as a proud moment for both the school and the Central Florida community.

Estudiantes de Osceola High School Representaron al Centro de Florida en Evento Nacional de Junior Achievement en Boston
BOSTON, Mass. — Tres estudiantes de Osceola High School representaron recientemente al Centro de Florida en el prestigioso evento nacional Future Bound de Junior Achievement, donde presentaron su innovador proyecto empresarial, SmartSpoil, en Boston University.
Los estudiantes, integrantes del programa 3DE de la escuela y próximos estudiantes de último año, obtuvieron su invitación después de que SmartSpoil se ubicara entre los 15 mejores equipos estudiantiles del país y clasificara para el JA Social Innovation Challenge.
SmartSpoil fue desarrollado como parte de un proyecto anual del programa 3DE y está diseñado para ayudar a reducir el desperdicio de alimentos mediante el seguimiento de fechas de vencimiento de productos comprados a través del escaneo de recibos. La aplicación también ofrece funciones como listas de compras, sugerencias de recetas, seguimiento de calorías y cupones digitales.
Future Bound es el principal evento nacional de Junior Achievement y reúne a destacados estudiantes, emprendedores, educadores y líderes empresariales de todo Estados Unidos.
