A man accused of firing multiple rounds outside an apartment complex in a Kissimmee neighborhood was apprehended Tuesday evening in Southwest Florida after a high-speed pursuit, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
During a news briefing, Sheriff Marcos Lopez identified the suspect as David Gomez-Posso, 25, who allegedly targeted the home on Orchid Lane, near the intersection of Woodcrest Boulevard and Michigan Avenue, around 1:30 p.m. The victim, who according to the Sheriff, is pregnant with Gomez-Posso’s baby, was at home when the incident took place.
Sheriff Lopez revealed that Gomez-Posso had also broken into the same home the day before, threatening the victim with a firearm.
“This is a tragic situation of escalating domestic violence,” Lopez stated. “This individual could have killed her. It’s crucial that victims of domestic violence call for help as soon as possible. Staying silent only increases the danger.”
No injuries were reported during the shooting, but the incident left the neighborhood shaken.
After the shooting, deputies considered Gomez-Posso armed and dangerous as he fled the area. Authorities later tracked him to Charlotte County, where he was apprehended following a high-speed pursuit.
Sheriff Lopez highlighted the importance of addressing domestic violence and urged victims to seek help immediately.
“If someone threatens you with a firearm or harms you, that is not love,” Lopez emphasized. “Don’t wait—call for help right away.”
Gomez-Posso faces multiple charges related to the shooting and prior domestic violence.
Sheriff Lopez reminded the public that resources are available for victims of domestic violence, urging them to reach out to the Sheriff’s Office or other local support organizations for assistance.
