Over the last few months we’ve seen shortages of spray bleach, sanitizer wipes, even toilet paper shortages, and we’ve all figured out ways to get around them… but now the unthinkable is happening. We’re hearing about a shortage of one America’s fav pizza topping  – pepperoni!

So, how is Shaq going to continue to promote his newest creation at Papa John’s… the Shaqaroni pizza?

During the initial outset of the coronavirus pandemic and then the subsequent stay-at-home order, pizza shops were seemingly a perfect fit to stay busy and to fill the void of other restaurants that were unable to provide in-dining services to the communities around the nation. It became a normal sight to see pizza delivery cars moving through traffic as people longed for something other than home cooking…. so according to media outlets like USA Today and Bloomberg, we’re now seeing shortages of pepperoni, causing increases in prices that small mom and pop pizza shops ma be forced to pay. Typically price increases are passed on to the consumer, but in Osceola County we haven’t seen pepperoni pizza prices increases as of yet.

So, pepperoni lovers… if your fav pizza topping causes your pie’s price to jump… you’ll either have to part with a little extra coin, or give another topping a try until pepperoni prices drop a bit. Maybe it’s time for a ham and pineapple pizza… or even give a veggie pizza a try… or, maybe not.

On more pizza news… Pizza Hut will close up to 300 locations as part of a deal between the pizza chain and its largest U.S. franchisee, NPC International. NPC filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in early July. The closing Pizza Huts underperform the rest of the chain’s locations, and the majority are expected to be dine-in locations.
