OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Osceola County voters decided several closely watched local races Tuesday night while setting the stage for a number of November showdowns following Florida’s 2026 Primary Election.

With 41,837 ballots cast among 231,802 registered voters, Osceola County finished the election with 18.05% voter turnout.

From county commission and school board contests to city races, judicial elections and a pivotal Florida House seat, Tuesday’s results produced outright winners, November matchups and two municipal races headed toward runoffs.

Filak, Noel Win Osceola School Board Races

Two Osceola County School Board races were decided Tuesday.

In School Board District 1, Greg Filak won with 60.25% of the vote, defeating Jay Wheeler and securing the seat without the need for a November runoff.

In School Board District 3, Alyssa Noel narrowly crossed the threshold needed to win outright, receiving 50.2% and defeating Natalie Guzman.

Angela Eady Wins Kissimmee Commission Seat 2

Angela Eady won the race for Kissimmee City Commission Seat 2, receiving 52.28% of the vote and defeating Wanda Roman.

Because Eady received more than 50% of the vote, the race was decided Tuesday without a runoff.

Martinez, Jeffers Head to Runoff for Kissimmee Seat 4

The race for Kissimmee City Commission Seat 4 will continue to November after none of the four candidates received a majority.

Incumbent Janette Martinez finished first with 37.55%, while Tiffany Jeffers advanced with 28.56%.

Rubin Anderson finished with 20.17%, followed by Maria Virginia Garcia with 13.72%.

Martinez and Jeffers will now face each other in a November runoff.

Zilke Leads St. Cloud Seat 5; Three Votes Separate Rodriguez and Moore

The race for St. Cloud City Council Seat 5 produced one of the closest results of election night.

Kirk Zilke led the three-candidate field with 40.33%, while Alex Rodriguez finished second with 29.86% and Jim Moore finished with 29.82%.

With no candidate receiving more than 50%, the top two finishers would advance to a runoff. However, just three votes separate Rodriguez and Moore for second place, making the race one to watch closely as election officials complete the post-election process and determine whether a recount is required.

Positively Osceola will provide an update as additional official information becomes available.

Downey, Shroyer Advance in County Commission District 4

The November matchup for Osceola County Commission District 4 is set.

On the Democratic side, Mary Downey won with 63.21%, defeating Rafael Lebron, who received 21.06%, and Jose Gonzalez, who received 15.73%.

Republican Donny Shroyer won his party’s nomination with 56.79%, defeating Nelly Hernandez.

Downey and Shroyer will face each other in the Nov. 3 General Election.

Janer, Sanchez Set for County Commission District 2

In Osceola County Commission District 2, Democrat Viviana Janer and Republican Olga Sanchez will move forward to face each other in November.

Kissimmee Voters Split Decisions on Charter Questions

Kissimmee voters also decided two proposed changes to the City Charter.

A referendum that would have extended the mayor and city commissioners’ term limits from two consecutive four-year terms to three consecutive four-year terms failed.

A separate charter amendment requiring candidates for elected city office to consent to a background check to verify their eligibility passed.

Anthony Nieves Wins Florida House District 47

In Florida House District 47, Democrat Anthony Nieves defeated Jorge Figueroa, receiving 53.52% of the vote, or 7,351 votes, compared with Figueroa’s 46.48%, or 6,384 votes, with 100% of precincts reporting.

The race took on added significance after incumbent Republican State Rep. Paula Stark failed to qualify for re-election, leaving Nieves and Figueroa as the only qualified candidates.

Because no other candidate qualified for the seat, the Democratic contest was opened to all registered voters regardless of party affiliation, with the outcome effectively flipping House District 47 from Republican to Democratic representation.

Arguelles, Perry Win Ninth Circuit Judicial Races

In the race for Ninth Judicial Circuit Judge, Group 2, Christina Arguelles scored a decisive victory over Christie Lou Mitchell.

With 100% of precincts reporting, Arguelles received 62.73%, or 24,652 votes, while Mitchell finished with 37.27%, or 14,646 votes.

In Ninth Judicial Circuit Judge, Group 31, Kamilah Perry defeated Steve Kerestes. Perry received 52.69%, or 20,624 votes, while Kerestes received 47.31%, or 18,521 votes.

Dan Green to Challenge Darren Soto in Congressional District 9

The race for Florida’s 9th Congressional District is also set for November.

Republican Dan Green emerged from Tuesday’s GOP primary and will challenge incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. Darren Soto in the General Election.

Donalds, Jolly Set for Florida Governor’s Race

At the top of Florida’s November ballot, Republican U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds won the GOP nomination for governor, while former Congressman David Jolly captured the Democratic nomination.

Donalds and Jolly will face each other in the Nov. 3 General Election in the race to succeed term-limited Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Tuesday’s Primary Election settled several important Osceola County races, but the 2026 election season is far from finished. County commission contests, municipal runoffs, congressional races and the race for Florida governor now move toward the General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Positively Osceola will continue following the certification of Tuesday’s results, the extremely close St. Cloud Seat 5 contest, and the races Osceola County voters will decide in November.
