Ricky Booth has been re-elected as District 5 Osceola County Commissioner, securing his 2nd term with over 60% of the vote, defeating challenger Dianna Liebnitzky.
Booth, who comes from a long line of cattle ranchers, successfully ran on a platform focused on preserving rural lands, controlling growth, supporting education, and enhancing public safety in one of the fastest expanding regions in Florida.
“I am honored to serve you for another for 4 years. Thank you to the voters in District 5 for my huge win. I will continue to fight against growth, build more roads, support our first responders, and protect our agricultural and environmental homes.”
During the unprecedented rainfall and flooding brought by Hurricane Ian in 2022, Booth worked closely with local emergency teams, the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD), and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to prevent disaster. Their coordinated efforts are credited with saving an estimated 15,000 homes from flooding.
In addition to his work on flood prevention, Booth has been a strong advocate for swim safety in the community. This summer, he initiated a program in collaboration with Osceola County Fire Rescue and the City of St. Cloud that provided free swimming lessons to hundreds of local children. The program reflected Booth’s long-time commitment to public safety and his dedication to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn this essential life skill.
As District 5 continues to experience significant growth, Commissioner Booth’s focus as commissioner will likely remain on balancing development with the preservation of Osceola’s unique rural character, while ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents.
