On Thursday May 24th the St. Cloud City Council approved Resolution No. 2018-101R during its meeting designating the sandhill crane as the official bird for the City of St. Cloud.The resolution was brought before the Council by St. Cloud Main Street and SeaWorld. The Florida sandhill crane is protected by the U.S. Migratory Bird Treaty Act and as a State-designated Threatened species by Florida’s Endangered and Threatened Species Rule. The City of St. Cloud says they will continue using the sandhill crane in marketing materials in hopes of educating the community in protecting the Sandhill Cranes.
