St. Cloud Police Chief Douglas Goerke has been recognized with the esteemed 2024 Leadership Award by the Central Florida Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #176, celebrating his exceptional contributions to law enforcement and community engagement.

With over two decades of law enforcement service, Goerke’s journey in law enforcement began as an officer with the Orlando Police Department, where he rose through the ranks to serve as Deputy Chief of Police and Director of Airport Police Services. Before joining St. Cloud Police Department, he commanded the Patrol Division at OPD. His dedication to the profession and his emphasis on transparency and community policing have earned him widespread respect.

Chief Goerke, a highly respected leader in the St. Cloud community, holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Liberty University and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia Southern University. He is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy and has amassed numerous certifications in specialized law enforcement training throughout his career.

Since stepping into his role in St. Cloud in 2022, Chief Goerke has prioritized accessibility, approachability, and fostering stronger connections between law enforcement and the community. Under his leadership, the agency has become a highly active and involved presence in the area, reflecting his commitment to making a positive impact.
