As of the 11am National Hurricane Center update, Tropical Depression 13 is now expected to grow to a Category 1 hurricane before potentially making landfall near Tampa and then moving back into the Gulf of Mexico. As we know, all of this is likely to change.

Tropical Depression 13 currently has maximum sustained winds of 35 mph and is moving WNW at 21 mph.

Impacts may begin to be felt in the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico Friday night and Saturday. The system could move over portions of the Greater Antilles this weekend. However, it could bring some rainfall and wind impacts to portions of Hispaniola, Cuba, the Bahamas, and Florida this weekend ands early next week.

We will continue to update activity in the tropics as it is made available by the National Hurricane Center.
