WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for certain headcheese deli meat products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
The alert involves ready-to-eat pork headcheese products produced by Crawford Sausage Co., Inc. under the Daisy Brand label. While the products are no longer believed to be available for sale, consumers are urged not to eat any remaining product that may still be stored at home.
Federal officials said the alert follows an investigation into a listeria outbreak tied to the products, with at least three illnesses reported in Illinois.
Consumers are advised to throw away the affected products and sanitize any surfaces or containers that may have come into contact with them. The investigation remains ongoing.
