A 44-year-old Davenport man died Sunday morning following a scooter crash on West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred around 9:36 a.m. east of Four Winds Boulevard. The man was traveling eastbound in the outside lane on a 2024 Zhilong Angel scooter when he attempted to move into the inside lane. Investigators say he lost control of the scooter and laid it down on the roadway.
The rider was transported to Osceola Regional Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. According to FHP, he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash
Authorities confirmed the man’s next of kin had not yet been notified as of the report. The Florida Highway Patrol’s traffic homicide unit continues to investigate the incident.
