An 18-year-old Georgia woman was killed and five others were seriously injured late Thanksgiving night after their SUV was struck by an impaired driver on Poinciana Parkway in Osceola County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 11:40 p.m. Thursday on State Road 538 near Sienna Boulevard, when a westbound 2004 Acura MDX failed to stop for traffic ahead of it and slammed into the rear of a 2025 Hyundai Tucson that was stopped in the westbound lane.

The impact caused the Hyundai to overturn and collide with a 2015 Ford F-150 that was also stopped ahead.

Troopers say the driver of the Acura — 44-year-old Eddy Edmond of Davenport — suffered minor injuries and was arrested at the scene. He was charged with DUI Manslaughter and booked into the Osceola County Jail late Thursday night.

Inside the Hyundai, a 34-year-old Kissimmee woman was driving with five passengers. The 18-year-old woman from Stockbridge, Georgia, was rushed to Osceola Regional Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead. The driver and four additional passengers were transported to area hospitals with serious injuries, according to troopers.

The driver of the Ford F-150, a 40-year-old man from Apopka, was not injured and remained on scene.

The Florida Highway Patrol states the crash remains under investigation.
