“The incident that happened in Minneapolis with Mr. George Floyd was horrific, heartbreaking and unacceptable. The images we have available to us in this case remind us that there is much more work to be done to ensure that there is not even a hint of racial inequity in the distribution of justice in this country. We must use this devastating tragedy to continue to stand together against inequality and the misuse of force. In our city, we will always support the right for the residents to safely protest to show their frustration over injustices like this. Together we should use our voices to peacefully enact change and equality. May we be a community united in compassion.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family of George Floyd, and our thoughts and prayers are with them and all of America during this difficult time.”
