On Saturday, May 17, the Museum of Military History in Kissimmee welcomed veterans, families, and members of the community for its annual Armed Forces Day Celebration — a day filled with remembrance, education, and heartfelt appreciation for those who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

Guests spent the day exploring the museum’s extensive and immersive collection of military memorabilia spanning America’s military history — from the Revolutionary War and Civil War to World War I, World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam War, and Persian Gulf War. Each exhibit offered a glimpse into the stories, sacrifices, and courage of those who have worn the uniform in defense of freedom.

The celebration continued into the evening with a well-attended dinner that paid tribute to Korean War veterans. The dinner, led by Museum Executive Director Chris Robertson, served as the emotional centerpiece of the day, honoring the service and legacy of those who fought in what is often referred to as “The Forgotten War.”

Distinguished speakers added powerful personal reflections to the evening, including:

  • Mel Jenner, World War II Army Air Corps veteran

  • Pat Rudd, World War II U.S. Navy WAVES

  • Retired Army Colonel Myrna Callison

  • John Salvucci, Korean War veteran

  • USMC Fred Robinson, Chairman of the Orange County Mayor’s Veterans Advisory Council

Their stories captivated the audience and brought living history to life, reminding all in attendance of the enduring impact of military service on generations of Americans.

As the evening closed, the spirit of unity, honor, and gratitude filled the museum — a true reflection of the mission behind Armed Forces Day and the Museum of Military History.
