Two people have been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that took place in a St. Cloud neighborhood last month, leaving 19-year-old Nekko Herrera dead and another person seriously injured.
The shooting happened on April 11 on Kellchris Lane, where deputies from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of gunfire involving a vehicle. When they arrived, they found two people had been shot. Herrera died shortly after, and the other victim was flown to the hospital for treatment. The Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed that Herrera died from multiple gunshot wounds and ruled the case a homicide.
Following an investigation, detectives identified Orvill Osorio-Ortiz as a suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest on May 13. With help from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, Osorio-Ortiz was located in Pasco County, taken into custody, and booked into jail on a charge of first-degree premeditated murder.
Just two days later, on May 15, detectives arrested Jessica Rivera, Osorio-Ortiz’s girlfriend, on charges of tampering with evidence. Rivera was taken into custody at her workplace—Whispering Oak Elementary School in Winter Garden—where investigators say she continued to interfere with the case even during her arrest. She was later booked into the Orange County Jail.
The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing, and more details may be released in the future.
