The wait is over for this long-anticipated announcement as many have wondered what the fate of the Cirque Du Soleil tent would be in light of all of the recent changes at Disney Spring’s Westside. For nearly 20 years, since 1998, members of the Cirque Du Soleil troupe have delighted audiences with their performances in “La Nouba”.

They have performed nearly 9,000 shows and entertained over 11 million guests in the show’s 20 year span. Sadly, the curtain closes for “La Nouba” on December 31st and its cast will take a final bow before the Cirque Du Soleil stage goes dark.

Death, however, will bring new life in a new show where the artistry of Cirque Du Soleil meets the Magic of Disney. There are very few details about the new show or when it will debut, but this new collaboration is sure to be a hit. As usual, secrecy is paramount, but what we do know is that the show being developed by going back to the roots of the Walt Disney Company.

This new show will draw from the Disney Company’s heritage of animation, the very legacy Walt Disney left us all to enjoy. The new show will combine the signature artistry exemplified by Cirque Du Soleil with the celebration of Disney’s legacy of great storytelling. “We are incredibly inspired by Disney’s immense creative universe. We are convinced that bringing Disney’s magic to life on stage will touch audiences and bring them back to their childhood,” said Daniel Lamarre, president and CEO of Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group.

While we only know a few details, we can be assured that this creative collaboration will produce nothing short of an extraordinary show that will likely last another 20 years. We will keep you up to date as we learn more, and we are hoping to be there for the first performance and share it with all of you. Our guess is that it will be late 2018 or early 2019 before the Cirque Du Soleil stage lights up again and with a brand-new experience for audiences to enjoy for years to come.
