The City of St. Cloud has received a $1.2 million federal transportation grant to fund the Project Development and Environmental study for the reconstruction of 10th Street from U.S. 192 to Narcoossee Road.

According to the grant award information, the project addresses a safety problem, makes it easier for those walking or riding bicycles, and improves system-wide connectivity to transit. The City, in conjunction with MetroPlan Orlando, conducted a Complete Streets Study on the four-mile corridor. As part of that process, the City solicited input from the residents and users of the roadway to identify needed improvements. The PD&E study will allow the City to evaluate alternatives and opportunities for the elements identified in that corridor study and get it ready for construction.

“We are thrilled to receive this grant, which will enable us to move this important project along,” said City Manager Veronica Miller. “We look forward to making improvements to 10th Street to improve the drainage in the area and enhance the safety for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.”
