The City of St. Cloud recently earned national recognition for its innovative approach to community support and economic development. This week, the city’s Economic Development Department received a Bronze Excellence in Economic Development Award from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) for its role in launching a mobile food pantry program in partnership with the Osceola Council on Aging.

This marks the third IEDC award in five years for St. Cloud, having been honored previously in 2020 for the Culinary Bicycle Tour and in 2024 for its Economic Gardening program.

The City allocated a $103,000 Community Development Block Grant to the Osceola Council on Aging, which used the funding to purchase a refrigerated truck. The truck now serves as a mobile food pantry, bringing essential nutrition to local residents in need.

The mobile food pantry now serves the community every Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the St. Cloud Civic Center. For those interested in receiving assistance, more information and registration details are available at osceolagenerations.org/food-pantry-registration.

This latest recognition underscores the City of St. Cloud’s continued commitment to innovation, partnership, and service to the people of Osceola County.
