The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a weather disturbance that has the potential for subtropical growth this weekend northeast of the Bahamas.
An area of low pressure is a couple hundred miles northeast of the Bahamas, and if it develops into a tropical storm, it would be the sixteenth named storm before June 1 since the U.S. began tracking tropical weather with satellites.
The good news? Meteorologists say the system is not a threat to Florida.
