The Florida Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help in identifying a vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred around 12:38 a.m. on April 29 along Osceola Parkway near Plumwood Circle in Osceola County.

A Toyota Camry was traveling eastbound in the center lane when a pedestrian entered its path while crossing the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk. The front left of the Camry struck the pedestrian, a 41-year-old Kissimmee man, propelling him into the adjacent lanes of traffic.

Moments later, a second, unidentified vehicle also traveling eastbound struck the man as he lay in the roadway. Troopers say the undercarriage of the unknown vehicle made contact with the victim. The driver of the Camry remained at the scene and was not injured.

The second driver did not stop and fled the scene, continuing east on Osceola Parkway. The pedestrian was transported to HCA Florida Osceola Hospital, where he tragically passed away on May 9.

Investigators believe the second vehicle may be a white Mercedes SUV, and the incident was reportedly captured on surveillance video.

Florida Highway Patrol urges anyone with information to contact *FHP (*347) or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS. Tips can be provided anonymously.
