Gov. Ron DeSantis has announced that as of Monday, March 29, Florida residents 40 and above will be able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

On Monday, April 5, the following Monday, everyone 18 and older will be eligible to receive the vaccine.

“We have made great progress and I look forward to continuing to work hard to make sure everyone in Florida who wants a shot, can get a shot,” DeSantis said in a video released early Thursday. We have now vaccinated over 70% of the roughly 4.4 million seniors living in the state,” the governor said.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 683,070 vaccine doses will be arriving in Florida next week, an increase of 146,420 from this week.
