On Saturday, during what has been one of the most challenging times in our nation’s history, community leaders, volunteers, and caring organizations came together to bring hope, much-needed supplies, and to distribute food assistance to over 600 cars filled with people hurting and in need.

Osceola County Commission Chairman Brandon Arrington, along with House of Representative Kristen Arrington from District 43, Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, and about 50 volunteers worked together at a free drive-thru food distribution at St. Rosa of Lima Church that focused on assistance to those who have been negatively impacted by the continuing COVID-19 pandemic.

We’re out here with St. Rosa of Lima Church and Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida providing food for over 600 families, said  Osceola County Commission Chairman Brandon Arrington. We’ve also got some backpacks making sure kids are ready to get back to school and making sure they have the proper necessities to do so.

With the pandemic continuing, and with vaccinations being in the first stages, it’s likely that there will be more food assistance events like this one taking place in the near future. Positively Osceola will continue to inform the community about these events as well as COVID-19 testing and vaccination information.
