A 4-year-old boy was fatally shot in a Kissimmee home on Thursday morning, according to the Kissimmee Police Department.

The 4-year-old arrived at HCA Florida Osceola with a gunshot wound to his face, and was pronounced dead, police said. Kissimmee officers responded to the hospital just before 10 am after receiving reports that a child had been shot.

According to KPD,  the shooting took place at 2117 The Oaks Blvd near South John Young Parkway at the 4-year-old’s home.

Investigators found a firearm round in the home, but the boy’s 32-year-old father Michael Bragg told detectives that there were no guns in the house. but a friend did have guns in the house. Bragg later said that there was a gun in the house, but it was used for protection, according to police.

During a search of the home, two handguns were found in a suitcase near the front door, investigators said.

Bragg faces a charge of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon and is being held in the Osceola County Jail on $50,000 bond, however, he is being held on no bond for fleeing and eluding a criminal case in Orange County, police said.

The shooting is still under investigation.
