Today, Friday, May 3, 2019, Governor Ron DeSantis signed the Cancer Coverage Bill into law, effective July 1st, 2019 for Florida Firefighters that will expand benefits for firefighters who are diagnosed with 21 types of cancer.
The Cancer Coverage will also help firefighters pay their bills while undergoing cancer treatment by providing lump-sum payments of $25,000 upon diagnosis.
This is a historic day for Florida Firefighters! These men and women risk their lives every day to help those in need, now they will be able to receive help during their time of need.
