Hyundai is recalling 82,000 electric cars internationally to replace batteries in their vehicles after 15 reports of fires involving their vehicles. Hyundai’s recall will be one of the most expensive car recalls in history.

The recall will cost Hyundai over $900 million total with the average cost per vehicle at $11,000.

Replacing an entire battery is an extreme measure, requiring a similar amount of work and expense as replacing an entire engine of a gas-powered car.

The actual cost of the recall is not available because most car manufacturers do not release that exact information.
