OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Justin Story, a Republican candidate for U.S. Congress in Florida’s 9th Congressional District, is campaigning on his Central Florida roots, military service and a platform focused on border security, fiscal responsibility and limiting the influence of Washington politics.
A sixth-generation Central Floridian, Story grew up in St. Cloud and is now raising his own family in the community.
Story is a retired U.S. Marine Corps officer and former F/A-18 combat fighter pilot who says his campaign is about continuing a life of service rather than beginning a political career.
He has also been direct about his view of Washington. In a recent campaign video filmed in the Florida outdoors, Story compared navigating Florida’s swamps with what he believes awaits him in Congress.
“If I can handle the swamp here in Florida, I know I can take on the swamp in Washington, D.C.,” Story said.
Story’s campaign priorities include securing the southern border while supporting lawful immigration, protecting Second Amendment rights, restoring fiscal responsibility, expanding American energy production and supporting small businesses.
He also supports parental choice in education, improvements to veterans’ healthcare and benefits, and providing law enforcement, firefighters and other first responders with the resources and support they need.
Story has signed the U.S. Term Limits Pledge and the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, commitments that align with his campaign’s emphasis on citizen leadership, limiting congressional careers and opposing tax increases.
The Republican Primary Election is Tuesday, August 18, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters casting ballots on Election Day must vote at their assigned polling location.
