The City of Kissimmee recently announced the completion of repairs and restoration to damages caused by Hurricane Irma at the Lighthouse point, Earthen Breakwater, and the marina boat slips at the Kissimmee Lakefront area.

While initial clean-up to damaged areas took place rather quickly after Hurricane Irma on September 2017, the Kissimmee was unable to begin restoration efforts until the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) completed its review of the project’s scope of work and responded to Kissimmee’s funding requests.

The total cost for repairs was $480,590.63. FEMA covered 75% of the costs, and the City of Kissimmee and the State of Florida paid for the remainder in equal share of 12.5%.
