A tragic start to the New Year unfolded in Kissimmee as a person struck by what police described as “celebratory gunfire” has died, according to investigators.
Officers with the Kissimmee Police Department responded to a home on the 2300 block of Gull Court just after midnight on January 1, 2025, after receiving reports of a victim believed to have been struck by celebratory gunfire.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the victim with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and have not released additional details at this time. The Kissimmee Police Department stated that more information will be shared as the investigation progresses.
