On Christmas Eve, someone through a large rock through the front windows of the Salvation Army on Union Street in Kissimmee. Hours later someone broke in and stole three of their Christmas kettles, each with an estimated $200 to $400 inside.

The kettles/buckets that the Salvation Army uses to collect donations during the holidays is the main source of funds for the organization’s budget and how it buys used items to distribute to families and individuals in need.

After hearing about the robbery, local congregations from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Osceola County decided to help.

The congregations reached out to the director of the Salvation Army in Osceola County, Andrea Ruiz, to obtain a list of the items they need and they were unable to purchase because of the loss of funds due to the robbery,

Members  of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Osceola County brought the needed supplies to church on Sunday and then donated them to Salvation Army.
