Osceola Council on Aging held their 2019 March for Meals 5K St. Patrick’s Run/Walk presented by Kissimmee Utility Authority Saturday morning, March 16, 2019, at the Kissimmee Lakefront Park with over 600 participants.
The Osceola County weather was perfect while runners and walkers gathered bright and early to register, receive their March for Meals t-shirts, and prepare themselves for the 5K race with a special pre-race warm-up exercise.
Participants were able to bid on silent auction items and visit booths set up by the sponsors before and after the race. Those booths included Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, Hooters, Simply Healthcare, Fit2Run, Consulate Health Care, A Hero For Kids, ACR, and Community Connection 27.
Positively Osceola spoke with Beverly Hougland, CEO of Osceola Council on Aging before the race. Beverly expressed that this event means a lot to her because this is her last event before retiring after 40 years of being with this amazing organization.
“Thank you to the whole community for the opportunity to serve them. It has been an amazing career. I’ve been able to see all the good people in the world. I’m not going away, I’ll still be around. I’m going to be there #1 volunteer!”
