A dump truck was driving within the construction area at Funie Steed Rd and Formosa of the Margaritaville Resort in western Osceola County around 3pm Thursday when his left tires apparently began sliding into one of the retention ponds on the construction site.
The dump truck overturned into the pond trapping the driver under water. Construction workers on the scene used other construction equipment in an attempt to save the driver but couldn’t locate him inside the truck.
Orange County Fire Rescue Divers were also unsuccessful in locating the driver during the night. FHP remained on the scene throughout the night and once daylight returned the truck driver was located and removed from the retention pond.
The construction incident remains under investigation.
