The summer travel season is now upon us and if the spring traffic numbers are any indication, summer will be another record breaker at Orlando International Airport (MCO).

For the past six months, since November of 2018, international traffic at Orlando International Airport has increased by double-digits monthly, over the same time last year. April was the most improved month so far this year with a nearly 20 percent climb in arrivals and departures.

Fueling the dramatic growth in international traffic in April has been a rise in the number of international flights into Orlando International by Spirit, JetBlue, Avianca, Virgin Atlantic, lnterjet and GOL airlines bringing more than 100 thousand additional passengers.

While international numbers have broken records so have domestic travel numbers to Orlando. In April, domestic traffic climbed over 5.5 percent pushing MCO’s domestic total for the year to over 14.7 million passengers.

On a rolling 12-month basis MCO stands at 48.7 million passengers, which is a 7 percent increase over last year’s record volume.

April 2019 Statistical Data:

• International traffic was up 19.22 percent with a total of 650,750 international arrivals and departures
• Domestic passenger volume increased 5.59 percent in April as some 3,691,440 travelers went through MCO
• Combined, overall passenger traffic gained 7.43 percent for the month with 4,342,190 total passengers
