The Osceola Chamber’s Downtown Kissimmee Council brought the community together Thursday morning, August 21, at the Kissimmee Civic Center for its 2025 Downtown Update. Presented and by Positively Osceola, the event drew a full house of community and business leaders eager to learn about the latest developments shaping the heart of Kissimmee.

The program was emceed by Candice Shields, Chairwoman of the Downtown Kissimmee Council and representative of the Osceola Library System. Shields welcomed attendees and introduced the morning’s speakers, setting the stage for an informative and engaging program.

Positively Osceola Vice President Keith Ronan had the honor of introducing Kissimmee Police Chief Charles “Chuck” Broadway, who shared key updates with attendees. Chief Broadway’s presentation highlighted the department’s continued commitment to safety, community engagement, and honoring the values of honor, courage, and integrity that guide his leadership.

Featured Speaker for the Downtown Update Were:

  • Shawn Germolus, Director of Aviation at Kissimmee Gateway Airport, who provided insight into airport growth and development.

  • David Rodriguez, City of Kissimmee Economic Development Director who leads efforts to attract and retain businesses, create more high-quality jobs, and drive long-term economic growth.
  • Mark Phillips of AECOM, representing Connect Kissimmee, who outlined ongoing and future infrastructure initiatives to strengthen connectivity in the downtown area.

  • David Shimp, CEO of HCA Florida Osceola Hospital, who shared updates on healthcare advancements and expansion.

Guests enjoyed a hot breakfast and fresh coffee provided by Susanna’s Café, which added a warm, welcoming touch to the morning.
