The Osceola Council on Aging is warning the community to beware of fraudulent websites while searching for home weatherization programs. These websites ask people to fill out online forms, which are then used to steal the applicant’s personal information. Unfortunately, when a victim of this malicious fraud attempts to contact the company, they receive no response or support.

When clients perform a Google search for free windows, doors, and roofing weatherization programs, the Osceola Council on Aging often appears as the top search result. This is leading to confusion among many clients who mistake the council as the organization they filled out the form with.

The Osceola Council on Aging wants to make it clear that they do not offer online applications for weatherization services, nor do they advertise on social media platforms for the weatherization programs. The only way to obtain their services is through referrals from local organizations. The company also wants to clarify that they are not affiliated with any of the fraudulent sites that have been reported by their clients. They strongly condemn any fraudulent activity and are taking measures to prevent any confusion or damage caused by these scams.

The Osceola Council on Aging advises all clients to be vigilant and cautious when seeking weatherization services online. They suggest that clients avoid filling out forms on unfamiliar sites and only obtain services directly from trusted and reputable providers.

Anyone with questions or concerns about weatherization services is asked to contact the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity at 1-850-245-7105.
