Osceola County District 1 Commissioner Peggy Choudhry is celebrating a new chapter for The Salvation Army of Osceola and Orange Counties with the appointment of Majors Roger and DeeAnn Glick as Area Commanders. A long-time supporter and partner of The Salvation Army, Commissioner Choudhry expressed her enthusiasm for continuing the strong collaboration with the organization as it transitions to new leadership.
For years, Commissioner Choudhry has worked closely with The Salvation Army to address critical community issues, including homelessness, housing instability, and youth empowerment. Through initiatives like the Pathway to Housing program, she has supported efforts to help individuals and families move from shelters into permanent housing, creating long-term stability and self-sufficiency.
“Welcoming Majors Glick to Osceola County is a privilege, and I’m excited to work alongside them to continue the important mission of serving our community,” said Commissioner Choudhry. “Their passion for service and commitment to transformation mirrors our shared vision for uplifting families and individuals throughout Central Florida.”
Commissioner Choudhry’s collaboration with the organization has included impactful work with The Salvation Army’s previous leaders, Majors Ken and Jessie Chapman, who recently retired after years of dedicated service. Together, they championed anti-bullying campaigns, resources for the homeless and precariously housed, and programs aimed at breaking cycles of poverty.
The Glicks, with over 35 years of leadership experience, bring renewed energy and vision to their roles. As Area Commanders, they will lead programs providing emergency shelter, food assistance, spiritual care, and pathways to housing and financial independence.
Commissioner Choudhry emphasized her continued commitment to supporting The Salvation Army’s efforts and collaborating on solutions that ensure every resident has the opportunity to thrive.
“Together, we’ve made a real difference in people’s lives—and I’m confident that, with Majors Glick now leading the way, that impact will only grow,” said Choudhry. “Our community deserves compassion, action, and support, and that’s exactly what this partnership stands for.”
