During a press conference held on Wednesday, Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez announced the arrest of a suspect in a homicide case that deputies say began as a personal dispute “over a girl.”

The press conference, streamed on the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, detailed the findings of an investigation that began after a deadly shooting on April 11, 2025, at 5035 Kellchris Lane in St. Cloud. Deputies responded to reports of shots fired involving a vehicle at the scene. Nekko Herrera, 19, was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead shortly afterward. A second occupant of the vehicle was seriously injured and airlifted to a local hospital for treatment.

On April 12, the 9th Judicial Circuit Medical Examiner’s Office officially ruled Herrera’s death a homicide, citing multiple gunshot wounds as the cause.

After a month-long investigation, the Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit obtained an arrest warrant for Orvill Osorio-Ortiz (DOB 03/28/1983) on May 13, charging him with First Degree Premeditated Murder. That same day, with assistance from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, Osorio-Ortiz was taken into custody and booked into the Pasco County Jail.

Sheriff Lopez stated that the motive behind the fatal shooting stemmed from a personal conflict involving a romantic relationship. He also praised the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies that led to the swift apprehension of the suspect.

The investigation remains active as detectives continue gathering evidence and preparing for prosecution.
