The School District of Osceola County has approved two new administrative appointments for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year. Valerie Martinez and Sheryl Reyes-Cuevas have both been named as assistant principals in the district. Congratulations to them both! 

Valerie Martinez, Assistant Principal at Thacker Avenue Elementary School for International Studies

During her career, Valerie Martinez has held the following positions: Teacher at Gateway High (2002-2008); ESOL Educational Specialist at Neptune Middle (2008-2009); Title III ESOL Resource Specialist for Math and Science for the Osceola School District (2009-2010); Secondary Science Curriculum Specialist for the Osceola School District (2010-2011); Science Teacher at Parkway Middle (2011-2012); Science Teacher/ESOL Compliance Specialist at Neptune Middle (2012-2013); District ESOL Educational Specialist for the Osceola School District (2013-2014); Senior Administrator for the Multilingual Student Education Services Department for Orange County Public Schools (2014-2016); Director for the Multilingual Student Education Services Department for Orange County Public Schools (2016-2018); and Coordinator for the Multicultural, Curriculum, Instruction, and Compliance Department for the Osceola School District (2018-present). She received her bachelor’s degree in Molecular/Microbiology from the University of Central Florida and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from National Louis University.

Sheryl Reyes-Cuevas, Assistant Principal at Osceola Technical College – St. Cloud Campus

During her career, Sheryl Reyes-Cuevas has held the following positions: Student Affairs Specialist, Clerk Typist, and Teacher at Sunshine Elementary School (2003-2007); Learning Resource Teacher for Lee County Public Education Center (2007-2013); ESOL Resource Teacher at Mirror Lakes Elementary (2013-2015); Resource Teacher at East Lee County High School (2015-2017); Administrative Dean at Wekiva High (2017); Assistant Principal at SunRidge Middle (2017); and Instructional Support Teacher for Orange Technical College (2017-present). She received her specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Nova University and a master’s degree from Hodges University.
