The School District of Osceola County officially celebrated the ribbon-cutting ceremony for its brand-new Transportation East Facility this week, marking a major milestone in its efforts to enhance student transportation services across the county. The new state-of-the-art facility will begin receiving buses and additional maintenance equipment over the summer, positioning it to be fully operational for the 2025-2026 school year.
Located at 750 Nova Road in St. Cloud, the Transportation East project provides the district with a maintenance hub designed to better serve school buses operating throughout the eastern portion of Osceola County. The facility is expected to significantly reduce travel times and distances for buses, leading to improved operational efficiency and decreased costs.
“This new Transportation East Facility is more than just a building — it’s an investment in our students, our drivers, and the future of Osceola County,” said Dr. Mark Shanoff, Superintendent of the School District of Osceola County. “By improving the way we manage and maintain our buses, we are ensuring safer, more reliable transportation for thousands of students every day.”
The facility includes:
-
An Administrative/Fleet Maintenance Building spanning over 41,000 square feet, housing administrative offices and staff training space.
-
A Refueling and Bus Wash Depot for improved bus service operations.
-
A Bus Driver Restroom Pavilion.
-
12 school bus maintenance bays equipped with parts, battery, tire, and bulk fluid storage areas.
“The Transportation East Facility represents a major step forward in how we serve our students and families,” said Scott Knoebel, Assistant Superintendent of School Operations for the Osceola School District. “By strategically expanding our transportation infrastructure, we’re improving safety, reducing operational costs, and ensuring our buses are maintained to the highest standards to better support our growing community.”
The project was made possible through collaboration with Bentley Architects + Engineers and Charles Perry Partners, Inc. (CPPI).
District officials also noted that work is progressing on the district’s third and final transportation facility at 300 Robert McLane Boulevard in Kissimmee, which is on track to open and be fully functional for the 2026-2027 school year.
With both Transportation East and Transportation West projects nearing full readiness, and joining the Simpson Road facility in Kissimmee, the Osceola School District is taking a major step toward streamlining operations, reducing costs, and providing better service for its growing student population.
