The Osceola County Historical Society, known as Osceola History, has appointed Dawn Snell as its Interim Executive Director, the organization’s Board of Directors announced this week.
Snell, who joined Osceola History in 2022, brings a dynamic vision for the organization’s future along with extensive experience in museum operations and a deep commitment to preserving Osceola County’s heritage. Her promotion marks a new chapter for the organization, following the retirement of former Executive Director Kimberly Murray, who served in the role since 2018.
Prior to this appointment, Snell held key leadership positions within the organization, including Activities and Outreach Manager and most recently, Assistant Director. She has played an instrumental role in enhancing public programming, expanding community partnerships, and overseeing improvements at both Pioneer Village and the Welcome Center & History Museum.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dawn Snell into the role of Interim Executive Director,” said Stacy McCland, current Chair of the Board of Directors. “Her commitment to Osceola County, her forward-thinking ideas, and her collaborative leadership style make her the ideal person to lead the organization at this time. We are confident she will continue to elevate our mission and bring fresh energy to our work.”
Snell holds a Master of Science in Museum Leadership from Drexel University and a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts Education from the University of Toledo. Her academic training, paired with hands-on experience in museum and nonprofit management, uniquely position her to guide Osceola History through continued growth and innovation.
The Board of Directors expressed confidence in Snell’s ability to build on the foundation laid by her predecessor and advance the organization’s mission of keeping Osceola County’s rich history alive and accessible for generations to come.
