The Osceola School County School District has announced that it will be closed on Wednesday, August 30, after Governor Ron DeSantis amended Executive Order 23-171 for Hurricane Idalia and included Osceola County.
All district offices and school campuses will also be closed. All after-school school activities, events, and programs are cancelled today and tomorrow. At this time, plans are to reopen schools and district departments on Thursday, August 31.
In the executive order it says, “there is a continuing risk of dangerous storm surge, heavy rainfall, flash flooding, strong winds, hazardous seas, and isolated tomadic activity for the Florida Peninsula and portions of the Florida Big Bend; and the threat posed by Hurricane Idalia requires that timely precautions must be taken to protect the communities, critical infrastructure, and general welfare of the people of Florida.”
Parents and community residents are encouraged to monitor the district’s website at www.osceolaschools.net or social media pages for any further school district updates.
