Ask anyone involved with the Silver Spurs Riding Club what their favorite rodeo is, and more often than not, the answer will be the Special Rodeo. Held as part of the 154th Silver Spurs Rodeo, this cherished event took place on Sunday, February 23 at Silver Spurs Arena, welcoming the largest group of children in its history for a day filled with love, passion, and unforgettable moments.
The Special Rodeo is more than just an event—it’s a testament to the Silver Spurs Riding Club’s commitment to community support, and the transformative power of the rodeo spirit. For many of the participants and their families, it’s a chance to experience the magic of rodeo in a way that is accessible, engaging, and deeply meaningful.
For the 20th time former Silver Spurs Big Boss Sara Berlinksky led the Special Rodeo, working alongside a dedicated team of volunteers to create an authentic and exciting rodeo experience tailored for these incredible young participants.
The young cowboys and cowgirls took center stage on the Silver Spurs Arena dirt, participating in horseback riding, walking horses, riding a guided bucking bull, and roping demonstrations. They also enjoyed interactive rodeo games, which brought smiles, laughter, and an unforgettable sense of accomplishment.
Adding to the magic, the children had the opportunity to meet real rodeo cowboys and cowgirls, as well as the Miss Silver Spurs court and visiting rodeo queens from across the United States and Canada, all of whom volunteered their time to ensure every child felt like a star.
Every Child a Champion
The highlight of the day came when each child stepped up to be recognized as a winner and to receive their very own Silver Spurs Special Rodeo Belt Buckle, a moment filled with pride, joy, and pure excitement.
The impact of the event was undeniable—from the beaming faces of the children to the heartfelt gratitude of their families. “This event means the world to us,” shared one parent. “Seeing my child so happy and engaged is truly priceless.”
The Silver Spurs Special Rodeo is more than just a tradition—it’s a celebration of community, making lifelong memories, and the unbreakable spirit of rodeo. Each year, it brings together people from all walks of life to honor the idea that everyone deserves a chance to experience the thrill of rodeo.
