A 13-year-old St. Cloud boy was injured, along with 5 other teenagers, in a crash early Sunday morning that left a Palm Coast man dead and forced the temporary closure of a section of Dean Road, according to Orange County Fire Rescue and Florida Highway Patrol.

The fatal crash took place around 4:36 a.m. on Dean Road in Orlando involving a Hyundai Santa Fe that had been reported stolen to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and a Toyota 4Runner driven by a 23-year-old Palm Coast man.

The Hyundai was driving south on Dean Road while a Toyota 4Runner was driving east from the State Road 408 exit ramp to Dean Road, in the inside left turn lane, according to Florida Troopers.

As the Toyota made a left turn onto Dean Road with a green light, the Hyundai continued south on Dean Road, running a red light while speeding, striking the left side of the Toyota, FHP said.

The Hyundai’s 15-year-old driver and his five passengers, including a 16-year-old boy, a 15-year-old boy, a 14-year-old girl, a 13-year-old girl and the 13-year-old boy from St. Cloud, were all hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 23-year-old Palm Coast man driving the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene, according to FHP.

The crash is still under investigation.
