It’s not what residents in St.Cloud are wanting to hear, but due to further weather delays, the north side of Old Canoe Creek Road at U.S. 192 in St. Cloud will remain closed for an additional week. The detour will remain in effect until drainage work is completed Friday, Aug. 11.

The closure was initially expected to take about 4 weeks, and the delay will certainly makes it more challenging to get quick access to the St. Cloud Post Office, Walmart, Bank America and many other local St. Cloud businesses. With the summer rains hitting hard the last few weeks, it’s not a surprise that completion of this part of the FDOT road project will be delayed further.

U.S. 192 traffic needing to access Old Canoe Creek Road will continue to be directed to use either Commerce Center Drive or Brown Chapel Road and Fifth Street. Access to the SunTrust Bank at Old Canoe Creek Road will continue to be maintained.

The work is part of a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) project to widen S.R. 500 (U.S. 192) from Aeronautical Drive to Budinger Avenue. Please note construction schedules may change due to weather or other unforeseen events.
