The St. Cloud community came together on Monday, to pay homage to, to remember, and to honor the fallen American heroes who paid the ultimate sacrifice for their nation. It was the St.Cloud Annual Memorial Day Wreath Laying Ceremony held at Mt. Peace Cemetery, and it was filled with community leaders, veterans, students, musicians, and members of the community who just wanted to say – thank you.

The Master of Ceremony was Mike Midgley, Commander of the American Legion Post 80 in St. Cloud, who introduced the Girl Scouts of Citrus – Mishawaka who led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a powerful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner sung by Brooke Envall.

The ceremony’s guest speaker was American Legion Department of Florida Eastern Area Commander Daryl Bass and the Armed Force Medley was sung by Veteran Leo Murphy.

Organizations from all over the community then reverently place wreaths near the podium, honoring those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our great nation. The ceremony closed, as it does annually, with the playing of Taps by members of the Osceola County Veterans Council.

It was a beautiful time of reflection and likely the largest crowd the Memorial Day event has ever had.

Positively Osceola would like to thank everyone who worked tirelessly once again to make this event happen.
