The holiday spirit was alive and well last night as the St. Cloud Police Department hosted its annual Shop with a Cop event at the St. Cloud Walmart. Over 25 officers, including Police Chief Doug Goerke, escorted children through the aisles, helping them select Christmas gifts during a heartwarming evening filled with smiles and joy.

The event, supported by the nonprofit organization We Dare to Care, provided an opportunity for children in need to experience the magic of the season alongside their local heroes. Officers paired with kids to pick out gifts, creating special memories that will last a lifetime.

“For many, the holidays aren’t always filled with joy, laughter, or gifts—but thanks to events like Shop with a Cop, we can bring a little holiday magic to those who need it most,” said St. Cloud Police Chief Doug Goerke.

The Shop with a Cop event is more than just a shopping trip—it’s a moment of connection between law enforcement and the community they serve. By building these relationships, the St. Cloud Police Department demonstrates their commitment to fostering trust and spreading kindness during the holiday season.

Organizers at WalMart expressed gratitude to the officers, volunteers, and donors who made the evening possible, emphasizing the importance of coming together to make a difference in the lives of local children.

As the evening concluded, the children left the store not only with gifts in hand but with hearts full of joy, thanks to the generosity and dedication of the St. Cloud Police Department and its community partners.
