A 27-year-old St. Cloud woman who was pulled over on Florida’s Turnpike on Monday was killed when an SUV struck her from behind, ejecting her from her car, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal crash took place around 3 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the Turnpike near State Road 528.

According to FHP, the woman’s 2018 Hyundai was stopped on the inside southbound shoulder, with hazard lights on, possibly because the car was disabled.

A 2004 Infiniti SUV, driven by a 28-year-old man from Kissimmee, lost control and left the roadway, striking a guardrail before striking the back of the parked Hyundai, troopers said.

According to FHP the woman was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from her car and killed after being struck by the SUV, according to an FHP report.

The SUV overturned after striking the Hyundai, but the driver, who was wearing a seat belt, only suffered minor injuries, the FHP said. Charges are pending against the Kisssimmee man, according to the FHP.
