On Thursday, June 26, the Chris Lyle Aquatic Center will dive into global efforts to raise awareness about water safety by participating in the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson — a one-of-a-kind event aimed at saving lives through swim education. Families are invited to join the fun from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the center located at 2991 17th Street, for a morning filled with free 30-minute swim lessons, water-based activities, and educational fun.
Hosted annually, the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson is a global drowning prevention initiative created by the World Waterpark Association. The event unites aquatic centers, swim schools, and water parks around the world to send one unified message: Swimming lessons save lives. Drowning remains the leading cause of unintended, injury-related death for children ages 1-4, and the second for kids under 14 — a sobering reality the WLSL campaign aims to change.
The Chris Lyle Aquatic Center is joining hundreds of facilities in more than 20 countries to break records and amplify the life-saving message of swim instruction. The event is free to attend, and all skill levels are welcome.
Attendees will enjoy:
-
Free 30-minute swim lessons
-
DJ-led music and fun
-
Water slides
-
Paddleboard rides
-
CPR demonstrations
-
Activity passports for kids to complete and earn extra fun prizes
Whether you’re a parent, caregiver, or child, the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson is a chance to learn critical skills in a positive, safe, and festive environment. According to the WLSL reporting, formal swimming lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by up to 88% among young children, making participation in this event not only fun but potentially life-saving.
Don’t miss this opportunity to splash, learn, be safe, and take part in a worldwide movement for water safety and swim education!
