What’s the weather forecast for Kissimmee on Feb. 22? Will it be chilly?

Who knows, but it’ll definitely be chili.

The annual Sunshine Regional Chili Cook-Off and Beer Festival takes place at Kissimmee Lakefront Park on Feb. 22 from noon to 5 p.m. It’s a fun event for the community, with live music, craft vendors and a Fun Zone for the kids, but for the chili cooks it’s very serious business. It’s a sanctioned competition by the International Chili Society, so they’ll be seriously stirring for cash prizes and a place in their national chili competitions.

You can sample what’s cooking for only $5 for seven chili samples! You can also vote for your favorite chili for the People’s Choice Award, with the winning cook earning a $500 prize.

And you’re going to need something to wash down that chili … so that’s where the beer comes in. Some of Central Florida’s best craft beer brewers will feature their offerings.

Tickets for eight beer samplings start at $15 in advance through Feb. 15, $20 from the 16th to the 21st and $25 the day of the event.

Admission and parking are free, but you will need a ticket to sample chili and craft beer. Get them here, or at the Kissimmee Sunshine Regional Chili Cook-Off & Craft Beer Festival page.

So come down to Kissimmee Lakefront Park Feb. 22 for a great family event. Bundle up if it’s chilly; the chili will warm you up. There’s beer if it’s too warm.
