The Transition House Inc., a nonprofit organization, founded by Dr. Thomas Griffin in 1993, is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year of providing behavioral health and substance abuse treatment to our communities. This morning, March 23, 2019, over 300 supporters ranging in age showed up at the Kissimmee Lakefront to participate in The Transition House Inc. 2nd Annual Alcohol Awareness Family-Fun Walk/Run 5K!

Christine Falkowski, Marketing Director at The Transition House Inc. says “it’s really important to get the message out there about Alcoholism and that Recovery is Possible. This Walk/Run 5K is a kick-off to National Alcohol Awareness Month which is the whole month of April.” Falkowski also explains that during the month of April, The Transition House Inc. along with Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, Kissimmee Police Department, St. Cloud Police Department, and the corresponding Fire/Rescue Units visit local high schools to bring awareness to the students on alcohol use because April is also Prom Month in Osceola County.

The Transition House Inc. has residential programs for men that provided services for individuals dealing with behavioral health issues, such as substance abuse, mental health, and other co-occurring disorders. The organization also has 2 Women’s Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) located in St. Cloud, and 3 Counseling Centers in Florida located in St. Cloud, Kissimmee, and Longwood.

“The great thing about Osceola County is that we have a Continuum of Care (COC) with our Community Partners. We all work together to help people who need help.”
