Toho Water Authority went all ’80s on a summer 2019 social media campaign, “Irrigation Remix”.

The video, posted in July to remind local residents — however comically — that irrigation systems are not allowed to run between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., the hours of highest evaporation — received a Platinum award from the MarCom Awards.

MarCom Awards recognizes outstanding achievement in the concept, direction, design, and production of marketing and communication materials and programs. There were over 6,500 entries from throughout the United States, Canada, and 18 other countries this year, coming from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, public relations firms, design shops, production companies, and freelancers.

Toho Water Authority’s “Irrigation Remix” video and social media campaign showed people how to do “The Sprinkler” dance, and reminded them that, if you’re doing it in the middle of the day, “This should be the only ‘sprinklering’ happening between 10am and 4pm in the afternoon.” It highlighted July as Smart Irrigation Month.

Entries were judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP), an international organization consisting of thousands of creative professionals. AMCP fosters and supports the efforts of creative professionals who contribute their unique talents to public service and community organizations.
