One person is dead and two others are injured after a head-on crash that took place early Tuesday morning in eastern Osceola County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said two pickup trucks collided head-on on US-192 at Hibiscus Road around 4 a.m. Tuesday when the driver of one of the trucks was traveling west in the eastbound lanes.

According to FHP, after crashing into the eastbound truck head-on, the wrong-way driver’s truck flipped onto its side and became engulfed in flames. The driver, who was 69 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene. Due to the condition of the driver who perished, the identity will be confirmed through dental records at a later time.

According to FHP’s crash report, the 31-year-old driver of the eastbound truck and his 38-year-old passenger were both taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center in serious condition.

Eastbound lanes of US192 were shut down following the crash, according to the Highway Patrol.

The crash remains under investigation, troopers said.
